1) What are the first steps you should take after emergency services have left your property? (click)

After the Fire Department has left, and you are situated in a safe location, call your insurance company. They might have some protocols for you to follow in order to ensure the maximum benefit from your current policy. An example would be: Don’t throw away any items until they have been documented.

EverySpace Construction will inspect your loss and provide an estimate. In that process, we will also take your insurance adjuster’s scope, compare it to our scope and make any additions that were not covered in our scope. We will also go over your loss with you. The homeowner has the most knowledge of the home, and their input is crucial to achieving an accurate bid.

  1. Contact your insurance company and your mortgage company (Mortgage companies have an interest in your property and need to be contacted as well.)
  2. Call EverySpace Construction and receive a no-charge estimate.
  3. Meet with Don Hines or Dirk Nelson. Do you have a rapport with them? You should know that instinctively.
  4. Check our references, look at some of our past work.
  5. After you feel that you can comfortably working with EverySpace Construction, CALL US BACK to begin the work!
  6. Sign the appropriate paperwork and get the process going.
  7. When done, enjoy the results of our quality workmanship on your behalf in your beautifully restored home.
2) What are some typical symptoms of molds spores in a home or office building?(click)

Besides presenting an ugly appearance and, sometimes, an unpleasant odor, mold can cause health problems. In the worst cases, a few types of molds produce mycotoxins, which can cause rashes, seizures, unusual bleeding, respiratory problems, and severe fatigue in some people. Fortunately, most molds are of the non-toxic variety.

Be on the lookout for mold. When you’re thinking about buying a home, look for the elements above to figure out if there are any obvious signs of mold or the potential for mold. Keep your eyes peeled for standing water in the basement, water marks on walls (particularly recent-looking stains), or musty smells (particularly in bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, basements, cabinets with plumbing, or other areas with plumbing).

If you’re looking at a newer home, find out whether it is built with “synthetic stucco,” also called the Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS). This airtight barrier is supposed to improve insulation but, if improperly installed, may allow water penetration and mold growth on the inside of walls.

3) What is considered a crime scene cleanup? (click)

Unfortunately, if you watch any Las Vegas news channel at night, it seems daily there is some sort of crime that requires some type of cleanup.

EverySpace Construction  really terms crime scene cleanup as biohazard remediation which most people assume it is like standard cleaning. In reality, the two services couldn’t be more different. Biohazard remediation refers to the removal, cleaning, and disinfection of blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially harmful pathogens in affected areas after a death, accident, or communicable disease outbreak.

Because of the high exposure risk to bloodborne pathogens, biohazard remediation is a specialty service that requires proper training, equipment, certification, and licensing.

EverySpace Construction has designed a multi-step remediation process and developed a line of cleaning agents to protect the health and safety of our customers and their property.

4) What does it mean when a restoration company tells you that they are an insurance companies preferred vendor? (click)

To become a ‘preferred vendor’ with one of the large insurance companies, you have to agree to work off a discounted price list or agree to set a limit to drying time in return for a large volume of work. This becomes appealing to restoration business owners who no longer need to spend as much marketing themselves. By sacrificing some of their margin for a higher quantity of work, they are now able to make more money.

This is where the questions of ethics arise: If any restoration business owner, is receiving most, if not all, of your leads from preferred vendor list calls do you REALLY work for the homeowner? Or do you bend to the whim of the insurance company to avoid biting the hand that feeds them? If a restoration business owner is guaranteeing not to charge the insurance company after a set amount of time for drying the structure, what do you do when they reach that limit and the structure is still wet? Do they continue to work, essentially for free? Or do you leave the property wet and move on to the next job?

EverySpace Construction has built their reputation first and foremost on quality work and attention to detail.   Experience allows them to assess the job correctly and accurately determine the tools and labor required to complete the job correctly, the first time.

As a result of years of not compromising their quality standards, homeowners and insurance companies call EverySpace Construction first.  In a sense we do become the preferred vendor, but, not based on price but by the quality of workmanship we provide.

5) What happens after a fire? (click)

EverySpace Construction understands  that building materials may have been directly affected by the fire can sometimes be easily identified, in most losses it is the smoke and soot cleanup that represents the lion’s share of the cleaning and restoration effort.

Fire safety and building code officials have expended significant resources over many decades in an effort to better understand how smoke and soot can affect residential and commercial properties. Controlled experiments show just how quickly smoke can spread through all the crevices and tiny openings in your home. Within seconds, smoke and soot coat the walls, ceilings, cabinets, light fixtures, and windows.

Within minutes, heavy layers of soot coat all flat surfaces, and thick smoke makes its way inside outlets, switches, wall cavities, and penetrates electronics and appliances, coating delicate circuit-boards.

Even if the fire is put out rather quickly, smoke can penetrate to other floors of your home and absorb into soft goods such as clothing, carpeting, bedding, and window coverings. Even small fires can cause major damage to your personal belongings and your home and leave lingering odors if not cleaned up properly.
